From a Jane Austin Novel!

So I flicked open my computer while doing a morning feed and was delighted to see Bec and Greg's wedding from back in September featured on Style Me Pretty Australia!! One might even say over the moon.

Bec was such fun bride to work with, and had a very creative streak making many of the styling details herself. We of course did the florals using a mix of many in-season spring blooms, and I was very happy with the end result.

Just have to love Bec's quote on the florals - "I found the most amazing florist in Roberta from Green & Bloom. Her gorgeous flowers just took my breath away and it made everything look like we were in a Jane Austin novel".

Oh the the fabulous photography is by the always charming and super talented Karen Buckle Photography.

Real Wedding : Emily and Adam

Now that I am on maternity leave I am going to blog lots of beautiful weddings from 2011 which I have not had a chance to blog so far. Lets start with Emily and Adam.

Emily and Adam wed back in May at Topiaries at Beaumont a lovely country venue just 40mins from Brisbane in the Samford ranges. Emily was the sweetest bride. She loved all the things I love, soft pretty romantic blooms in a range a soft and bright tones, lace, found vintage items and my list goes on. So when we first met I knew we would both have alot of fun creating something special for their day.

We styled the ceremony and reception filling props Emily source as well as ones we supplied with fresh blooms and fruit. There was very much a spring garden feel to the floral styling even though the wedding was held much further back in May.

The amazing photography was by the team at You Can't Be Serious, who always come up with the goods for absolutely stunning wedding photography that captures the fun, raw emotion and details of wedding days.

The girls hair and makeup was by the talented team at Locks and Lashes, and complemented the romantic styling for the day perfectly.

I just wanted to say a huge thank-you to Emily and Adam for allowing me to be a part of their special day and for being so lovely to work with along the way. I really was delighted with the outcome and over-the-moon you both were too. Best wishes from the G&B team for a long and fulfilling marriage.

Spring really is here!!

This weekend we took the opportunity to escape to the country to the family farm. There is nothing I love more than fresh country air, and going for walks finding bush animals and flowers with my daughter. This is my mother in laws beautiful flower patch on their farm. Spring really is here with these beautiful, colourful blooms.

We shared a fabulous bride and groom recently - Lauren and Richard, who married at Newstead House, with the reception at Brett’s Wharf. Fairy Princesses - Flowergirls Inspiration Shoot

Beautiful long flowing dresses, sweet hair and makeup, pretty whimsical florals, and stunning photography played such a big role in making one of our recent shoots a gorgeous success.

So excited to be able to share theses beautiful images from Alana Aston Photography from a recent Flower Girls Inspiration Shoot we styled and created the florals for.

Our 6 little models were the perfect princesses and wore the new events collection of Tea Princess dresses. The very talented Amber from Brush and Blush did all the girls hair and makeup which suited the ages and dresses - loving the use of plats.

All girls had a different woodsy, whimsical fresh floral halo and petite bouquet, as well as baskets filled with moss and pine cones made by Green and Bloom. The images were also featured on the fabulous blog Polka Dot Bride and you can check out the post here.

Thank-you to all involved, I am so so pleased with the final results.

Glowing Kate

There is something so precious about maternity shoots. They capture a moment which some of us may experience only once in our lives or for others a few more times, and some never. 9 months comes and goes so quickly, you very soon forget the feelings of growing your new baby and carrying them around in you for what seems like such a short time in the beginning and then long at the end.

I was delighted to be able to help out with this beautiful maternity shoot captured by Deep Grey Photography down in Byron Bay, which I created a floral halo for Kate the gorgeous mum to be. I adore all these images and you can see more on Deep Grey's blog here. How beautiful is Kate? Such a glowing mummy to be.

Kates gorgeous hair and makeup was by the talented Alex Ouston Makeup Artist & Hair Stylist.

Rustic Champagne Bar : Green and Bloom

A little while back I was lucky enough to work with a small group of very talented ladies for a rustic champagne bar submission to The LANE wedding blog site. For anyone who knows me well, knows how much I love making mocktails, cocktails and drinking champagne, so styling this champagne bar was right up my alley.

The delightful Terri from Terri Hanlon Photography took all the amazing images, while Coby from The Lemony Cupcake made the delicious mouthwatering desserts, and Alison Bartolo made the stationary.

The champagne bar was styled using stacked straw bails as the table, vintage curtains and lace, textured blooms, tin buckets, eclectic bottles, breads, cheeses, and dips, and homely rich desserts served with vintage spoons. An assortment of bloom filled bottles line the curtains, and native buds and blooms have been placed in baskets, and crystal on the table top. A rustic selection of desserts were on offer for guests, including cherry ripe slice, baked cheesecakes with berries, and Banoffee Cupcakes (in jars), while guests could serve themselves Wild Hibiscus and Lychee Champagne from the etched drinks dispenser. Delicate vintage wine glasses containing a sprig of lemongrass and apple are ready to be filled with drinks to the guests liking.

Real Wedding : Belinda + Dave

Belinda and Dave were such a lovely couple who wed back in April at The Powerhouse, Brisbane. Their wedding was very special and non-traditional with their own unique touches incorporated into the day.

Belinda loves warm reds, and wanted a mixed bouquets with lots of interesting textures and tones. The bouquets needed to incorporate Belinda's favourite flower too which is Gerbera's, with 'no Roses please'.

Big thank-you to Belinda and Dave as well as their fabulous photographers Todd Hunter McGaw Photography for allowing us to use these beautiful images. Todd has a super awesome photography style, and lucky for me we are working on many wedding together in 2011 so can't wait to share those too. Todd also won the 2011 QLD AIPP Wedding Photographer of the Year which is a photography industry award, so he is pretty darn good at what he does.

Real Wedding - Melissa and Mark: Bold, Vintage, Romance

I am so lucky to meet amazing and inspiring brides and grooms, and the fabulous suppliers they have involved in their weddings. A memorable and fun wedding at the beginning of this year was Melissa and Mark's which was beautiful, bold, fun with a vintage Hollywood glamour feel.

Melissa and Mark married at the beginning of the year in Brisbane, Fortitude Valley, and we had alot of fun running through ideas to suit her bold, vintage theme which had a small touch of tropical for both bouquets through to reception florals. Melissa was happy to run with my floral suggestions for a a mix of unique in-season blooms for her bouquets and table flowers, and I loved them so much it was actually hard to say good bye to them on the morning of the wedding.

Vintage Engagement Shoot

I have been a long time follower and supporter of Brisbane based photography company Bec + Fo, so when Fiona called to ask me if I could help out with some floral's for their vintage inspired engagement shoot my answer was - Hell Yes!

Rebecca and Fiona the girls behind Bec + Fo, styled the shoot beautifully, and wanted a soft romantic bedroom scene located in a grassy field. Its always fun to be given a free rein of coming up with something interesting for shoots, so I created a shower of fresh blooms as well as some arrangements and bridal bouquet in a more relaxed vintage style.

Brett and Un's Thai Wedding - Victoria Park, Brisbane

Delighted to be posting these gorgeous images of our florals and accessories from Brett and Un's wedding which was held back in February at Victoria Park Golf Course. Leah of Small and Bright Photography took these swoon worthy images, and Kym from Style Weddings and Events planned the event meticulously from start to finish, and ensured the day was an enjoyable and memorable occasion for family, friends and most importantly the bride and groom.

As Un is from Thailand, many Thai influences were incorporated into the day through the bridal gown, grooms suit, bridesmaids dress, and other styling details for ceremony and reception.

Orchids were the predominant flower used, in both rich deep colourings as well as whites and creams, plus we were lucky to also have white water lilies and calla lilies within the bouquets too.

Thank-you so much to Brett, Un for allowing me to be part of your very special day. And a big thank-you to Kym who has supported my business from when we were both new businesses.

I just adore when you have photographers who have an arty approach to capturing the wedding details throughout the day. I quite often find wedding cakes are not given much attention by photographers except for the mock up 'cutting of the cake' shots which are often overdone with traditional and uninspiring context.

High Tea Fit For A Queen!

Just had to share a couple of photos from a recent photo shoot I was involved in for Adore Magazine, styled by Sharnel Dollar Designs. G&B created some pretty arrangements in a tea pot and tea cups using a mix of flowers and foliage to give an old world high tea feel to the shoot, fit for a queen.

I simply adore the final result and big thank-you to Sharnel for allowing Green and Bloom to be part of this shoot, and to Naomi V Photography for sharing her beautiful images. Some of the beautiful sweets were made by Bubble and Sweet, with the gorgeous queen silhouette designed by Pen and Paper Flowers.

Currently having a short break to rest and recoup as I am feeling a little under the weather. I will be back on board next Wednesday 3rd March, in preparation for a big weekend of weddings.

Just wanted to share a beautiful image sent to me today by Karen Buckle Photography, from a wedding we worked on together over the weekend just gone. Cameron and Claire wed on Saturday and are long time sweet hearts, and seriously a very cute and stylish couple. I loved Claire's gorgeous bouquet, and was delighted when she gave me full creative rein to create. I love it when my brides say ' here are my colours, this is what I like, and do what you think go best for my wedding style'.

Giselle & Dave - Pretty pink and purple bouquets

Giselle and Dave wed in Brisbane on the 18th of December and they were our second last couple for Green and Bloom for 2010. Giselle's styling for her wedding was very soft, pastel and feminine, with the bridesmaids wearing beautiful floral print dresses, and Giselle's gown being ivory with an intricate lace and beaded silk overlay.

Giselle chose mixed bouquets of Peonies, David Austins, Lisianthus, Hydrangea for the bridal party. They smelt amazing and looked divinley pretty and lacey too. Her cake was adorned with a fresh flower topper with one side being decorated with a wired trail of David Austins and Peonies.

Giselle and Dave were such a beautiful couple to work with, and we wish them a long and happily married future. Thank-you Giselle and Dave as well as a big thank-you to their photographers Brischetto Photography for allowing us to share these stunning images. Just stumbled upon this adorable cake topper on the TomKat Studios blog which uses a mini bunting and striped paper straws! How perfect for today's blog post theme on bunting, and would be lovely on wedding cake using your own choice of paper, twine and paper straws.

Modern Vintage Romance - Deb + David Reception

Deb and David officially wed overseas in Thailand in the month of November with an intimate ceremony with close family and friends. They decided to have a second reception in early December back in Brisbane, so those who could not travel the distance could still enjoy the celebrations of this very special occasion.

Deb's styling for the day was based around a 'Modern Vintage' theme with hues of blues, creams and whites. She wanted simple affordable table arrangements of in season blooms arranged in recycled jam jars Deb and her bridesmaids collected for the months prior.

Below are some of the beautiful images Deb sent to me this morning taken by Maureen from Life In Bloom Photography, who is a very talented photographer based on the Gold Coast. As Deb herself is a photographer I was very intrigued as to who she would have chosen to capture the special moments and knew they must have been a photographer with exceptional talent, and the images prove just this.

Striped Paper Straws!!

I am super excited about our new range of imported striped paper straws, which come in red/white, blue/white and grey/white. They are so darn adorable to use for any party you may be having in the not too distant future, and are sure to impress guests with the old school memories they trigger.

We currently have a special of a pack of 25 for $7.00 or a packet of 50 for $10.99 which is valid till the end of Jan. Our new website will be launched in the coming weeks to line up with our first birthday so be sure to look out for many specials in the next couple of weeks. Our storefront will also stock a boutique range of wedding and events props and I can't wait to share all our pretties with you soon!

Our drinks dispensers and mini milk bottles were also hired for Silvia and Floyd's wedding at the end of October, and used for their drinks table outside of the church, with red striped paper straws placed in each bottle. The beautiful images are by Focus Films Photography and Video.

At the beginning of November I was fortunately to be involved in a floral headpiece photo shoot which was a collaboration between a small group of talented ladies based in Brisbane. Terri Hanlon from Terri Hanlon Photography was the talent behind the lens, Brooke and Stacie from Locks and Lashes were the talent behind the hair and makeup, Grazia Occasion Wear supplied the gorgeous gowns, and of course Green and Bloom created the exotic floral headpieces. Our stunning models Lani Ward (blonde vixen), Cindy Cauz (exotic dark haired beauty), did an amazing job, and I can’t thank everyone involved enough.

It was our intention to showcase a variety of styles using models with both short and long hair, as traditionally most images used for wedding inspiration use long haired models. The mix of head pieces included halos, hair combs, individual flower blooms and head bands and show that no matter if you have short or long hair, there is a style of floral fascinator or hair piece which will complement your wedding day style.

I hope you love the images as much as we loved creating something fun, unique and arty.

Modern, Bright, Beautiful Brisbane Backyard Wedding

Michelle and Wally married on the 30^th October 2010, and chose to have the beautiful celebration in the lush backyard of Michelle’s parents house. Michelle is a graphic designer and her favorite black and white stripped theme ran from the beautiful invitations, right through to the ribbons on the bouquets and buttonholes, to the arbor under which they were married. Her modern stripped theme flowed beautifully through all the days details.

I was very fortunate to get an interstate call from Michelle to discuss her flowers, and from the initial briefing on her wedding I knew it was going to be a truly creative and beautiful event. Her colour theme was ALL colours bright and beautiful, and she wanted a more organic, eclectic, less traditional style of bouquets. This modern floral theme flowed through to the arrangements at the ceremony, and bottles of flowers hanging from the sides of the marquee. I had been planning to try out this way of dressing up a bland wall with hanging bottles and stems of flowers for a while, so was over the moon when Michelle took on and loved the idea too. The flowers were very modern and incorporated Pansies, Mint and Snow Pea Tendrils from my own garden.

Michelle and Wally’s photographer was Stephen Henry who is a Brisbane based photographer, with a super cool photography style. He has a unique way of capturing weddings in a complete different way to many others. If I was to tell him I think his photography style is almost photojournalistic he would probably think otherwise, but I think that’s why I love it so much. Here is an interesting question he was asked once and I love the response -

What do you like most about photography? I believe that there are unlimited ways of seeing things visually and mentally which the world is crying out for, even if it’s not always welcome. I love being part of that process

Silvia + Floyd Wed - Whimisical Vintage Romance

Silvia and Floyd were married last Friday, and what a beautiful day it was. Silvia was a very creative bride with lots of DIY detailing everywhere. She handmade most of the wedding detailing for the day, including some beautiful table numbers in picture frames, and sourced lots of beautiful crocheted doilies and crystal vases for the tables.

I was fortunate enough to be brought on board for this wedding only a couple of weeks out from their big day, and created her flowers for the reception at Sirromet, as well as buttonholes, and setup the drinks table with our hire items and flowers for outside the church.

I had a lot of fun working through ideas with Silvia (not that she needed any inspiration), and can’t wait to see the professional pics of the big day by Focus Films. Oh and how beautiful was Silvia and Floyd’s wedding cake? This beauty was made by Eleanor at Cakage.

Clare and Russell's Modern Chic Wed

Clare is a graphic designer and Russell is an architect so when Clare came to me with her scrapbook of bouquets she loved I knew her flowers were going to be a lot of fun. From the images she showed me I straight away could see she loved structure, texture, and combining softer feel flowers with more structured architectural elements.

Claire and Russell wed on Friday 19^th November at Sirromet Winery and we wish them all the very best for a happily married future. Here are a few of my images of their wedding flowers, we had a great mix of coloured and textured blooms and foliage to work with, and I loved the end result so much.

Parisa and Nathan's Wedding

Parisa and Nathan wed on the 10/10/10 at Hillstone, St Lucia, Brisbane, and what a beautiful wedding it was. Parisa came to me with a woodsy, whimsical theme, but still maintained a very modern, romantic and elegant style. She loved Peonies (but was way too early for their season this year), Ranunculus, Sim Carnations and anything textured, lacy and in a white/cream tone for the blooms (we also used lots of Lily of the Valley, Freesias, Dis Bud Chrissies), twisted willow and moss were another of her loves in the plant world.

We did a mock up of her table arrangement in March which was a great way at getting feedback, but also setting Parisa’s mind at ease that we understood what she wanted to achieve for floral decorating for the day as your wedding flowers are such a major feature for the day.

Her bridal and bridesmaids bouquets were adorable, lacy and very chic and incorporated a mix of white and cream sim carnations and ranunculus which we had to source from Victoria as the season had finished early in SE QLD.

It was so much fun working with a very classy and creative bride, and we wish her and Nathan a very happily married future together. Thank-you also to TWK Studios as well as Parisa and Nathan for allowing us to share some of their beautiful images.

Alex and Ben Wed - Winter Tulip Wonderland!

Wow what a busy last couple of months we have had! Have been meaning to catchup with my blog posts so here goes!!

This post is about Alex and Ben’s wedding who were married on the 6^th June 2010 at Topiaries of Beaumont, Samford Valley. Alex’s wedding day was full of beautiful fresh country air, blue skys, green rolling mountains and lots of bright sun, so here are some pictures by the talented crew at Vivid Photography to prove it!

Alex’s only major request when first discussing her wedding flowers was that they all be made from tulips, as this flower had special meaning to her and her husband to be Ben. So tulips were everywhere from the aisles at the ceremony, to the bridal bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets, buttonholes, cake topper and table centres.

Alex’s hair and makeup was done by Anna Patterson from Makeup my day, who has actually just also opened a boutique salon at wooloowin called White Gold Boutique, but also does mobile hair and makeup for weddings and events. Her dress was created by Luomo who is a Sydney based dress designer and the wedding ceremony and reception was at Topiaries of Beaumont which is a very popular spot for country style weddings just 45mins from Brisbane City.

Green and Bloom comes 3rd at Bridal Industry Awards

What a huge week it has been for weddings here at Green and Bloom Flowers, and also for the whole wedding industry in Queensland as the Bridal Industry Awards (ABIA) was held on Tuesday night at Royal on the Park, Brisbane.

We were honored to be nominated by our past brides and grooms for this award, and even more delighted to be a top 20 finalist out of the 114 nominated florist for Queensland. Excitingly Green and Bloom Flowers came 3^rd within the 'Floral Design' division with one of sunshine coast best florists ‘Mondo Floral Design’ and Gold Coast’s the ‘Lilac Tree’ coming in second and first.

The LANE Africa Editorial Shoot

The location in the African landscape is a stunning backdrop, and I love the use of bright colours on the gorgeous African model. I also think it is wonderful and refreshing to have wedding and bridal inspiration shoots which incorporates models of all backgrounds and races , which is sometimes not so common on the vast array of wedding inspirational blog sites these days.

Chelsea + Marc Wed - A princess event!

I am not usually one to follow celebrity weddings, however one of my favourite florists Jeff Leatham along with Boston Florist Winston Flowers apparently created the beautiful flowers for Chelsea’s and Marc’s wedding, so I thought I must do a little report on this one.

Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky were married on the 31st of July, in a Christian/Jewish service, at Beaux Arts riverside estate called Astor Courts.

Chelsea carried a classic white bouquet of fragrant Gardenias while Marc wore a simple buttonhole of white Freesia. Now girls don’t get any ideas on this one. Here in South-East Queensland it is still very hard to source Gardenias for weddings, unless you have a mature bush in your back yard or one of your neighbours has one. Plus you need to be lucky enough to have your wedding the same weeks the bush is flowering. Even if you are ever so lucky, the flowers are very very delicate, and bruise easily. So for Jeff to create this amazingly structured bouquet of white blooms, this would have been no easy feat. We must wait for the details to come on the reception and ceremony flowers…but I have no doubt they were a re-creation of heaven.

Chelsea’s gown was designed by the always stunning range of Vera Wang, and created an elegant real princess feel with the floor length gown, and layering of white tulle and organza overlay, and jewel encrusted waist. Chelsea’s floor length veil complemented her elegant look perfectly. Just like all good American weddings, Chelsea had 17 bridesmaids who also wore Vera Wang designed gowns.

Beautiful Bouquets for June and July

Today I thought I would do a quick snapshot of some of the bridal bouquets we have been fortunate to create here at Green and Bloom Flowers for weddings over the months of June and July. Each bride had completely different ideas and concepts behind the flowers they wanted for their special day, which made it a fun couple of months.

Here is a snapshot of some of the bouquets. They have flowers ranging from Cymbidium Orchids, to Snap Dragons, Delphinium to wedding range Roses, Calla Lilies to Sweet Peas, and Tulips to Australian Natives. What a lovely couple of months!!

Green and Bloom Flowers for the Weddings Weekly Photo Shoot

How stunning are these images taken by Red Eclipse Photography for a Weddings Weekly Photoshoot! We were over the moon to be asked to create some wedding bouquets for this country chic shoot a couple of months ago, which was located on a private property in the Suburb of Brookfield, in Brisbane’s western suburbs.

The bouquets needed to suit the country setting as well as the choice of bridal gowns which were fresh, youthful, modern and edgy. The bouquets used Australian natives which are more often than not overlooked by most brides as ideal wedding flowers, with a clustered white and green bouquet of sim carnations and disbud chrysanthemums.

The stunning dresses were a mixture of Wendy Makin, Hills in Hollywood and Juli Grbac. Thank-you so much Weddings Weekly for having Green and Bloom Flowers involved in this wonderful photo shoot.

It's so cold - Spring Flower Inspiration for the warmer months!

Today I was in need of some inspiration for the warmer weather to come, as it is so so cold here in Brisbane at the moment... so here is a beautiful image from 'The Flower School with Sarah and Nicolette' from their workshop evening where the class was devoted to spring flowers. The large organic looking arrangement was constructed using different types of daffodils, spirea, astrantia, hyacinth, fritillaria, geranium, muscari, hellebores, tulips, queen anne's lace, goosenecks, and lots more.

Siromett Wedding - Jen and Matt tie the knot!

One of my wonderful brides Jenny who was married back in May sent through some professional images of the day last week, which were taken by ‘The Best Man Photographers’. Jen and Matt look so thrilled and happy within the photos, and I love the smiling eye shot of Jen hiding behind her bouquet.

Jenny and Matt were married at Sirromet Winery which is in the Redland Bay suburb of Mt Cotton, and is surrounded by rural allotments and green grassed land for miles. The bushland and vineyard outlooks from this venue are amazing, and I know personally the food is also to die for!

Jens dress was vintage inspired and beautifully free flowing from the hips downwards, with her four bridesmaids all wearing mushroom pink coloured knee length and short dresses.

Jen was inspired for her bouquets from the Martha Stewart Wedding website, where a lot of the example bouquets are unstructured, field picked looking, incorporating many different types of herbs. The bouquet for the bride was made using white lisianthus, paper white jonquils, white roses, white nerine, rosemary, thyme, lavender stalks, magnolia leaves and dusty miller. The bridesmaids bouquets were also the same unstructured vintage style and incorporated antique coloured roses, and easter daisy along with the textured foliage and blooms.

Beautiful Love - Simone + John get hitched!

I was so excited to see this morning the wonderful Karen Buckle from Karen Buckle Photography had already edited some of the images from Simone and Johns wedding over the long weekend!! She is one very busy and fast working lady!!. Green & Bloom Flowers was lucky enough to be chosen as the florist for this beautiful wedding, and we had so much fun creating the bridal flowers, table arrangements and cake flowers for this lovely couple.

Simone and John chose blooms in whites, creams and purples for the bridal flowers using wedding range roses, spray roses, magnolia leaves and dusty miller, which suited the Newstead Park ceremony perfectly.

The reception was held at the Powerhouse in Brisbane city, within one of their amazing functions room, that contain the old graffiti from when the grand old building was derelict and un-used. Simone and John wanted something with a bit more colour to match the funky style of the room and decided to choose orange tulips within glass vases finished with white and silver ribbon detailing. Each guest was also given a cellophane bag and ribbon to take home a few stems, placed at each table setting.

To honor Simones mum, a cake topper of green sim carnations was chosen to top the classic two tiered cake, as this was the flower Simone’s mum also had for her wedding flowers.

All in all we had a wonderful time creating these beautiful flowers for Simone, and wish Simone and John all the best for their future together. More images can be found on Karen's blog site. Karen provides wedding photography within Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

Vintage Inspired Bridal Bouquets by Green and Bloom Flowers

This weekend I had alot of fun creating some very different, romantic and fun bridal bouquets with a vintage feel. I feel the key to these vintage bouquets are their simplicity of unstructured design, but use of high quality beautiful and textured blooms and foliage.

Times have very much changed for bridal bouquets and wedding flowers, and I find most of my clients are looking for something a little bit different. Bouquets that have a 'wild flower or field picked' style, with wonderfully textured foliage and herbs. I make bouquets which incorporate childhood memories, feel like home, yet are stunning and elegant in their own right. This is just a sneak peek for my many beautiful fresh designs to come, and I hope through these images I am able to inspire more brides to step outside of the traditional perception of bridal flowers.

Romantic French Inspired Bouquets

I love when I stumble across a new inspiring blog site which makes me excited about the industry which I am in. Today I found Laura Dowling’s blog, and saw amazingly beautiful french garden inspired wedding bouquets. Her style is refreshing, and has a ‘field picked’ appearance, with a very romantic and vintage classy feel. Here is her own interpretation of that ‘French’ style.

‘What makes the French wedding bouquets so special and unique? I think it’s the overall romantic feel of the bouquet and its special composition using the most elegant flowers and intricate, couture-style techniques. There are allusions to the garden, to historical styles, and to fashion, including the latest haute couture styles from the Paris runways. Flower Giveaway Competition

I was feeling generous a month ago and decided to hold a giveaway competition running over the month of May to all my facebook supporters with the winner receiving a farm fresh flower prize.

As the lucky winner Suzanne Watkins lives in Brisbane, I was able to create her a beautiful boxed arrangement rather than just send some bunches of wholesale style flowers. I created her a beautiful unstructured boxed arrangement this morning using white wedding range roses, hyacinths, mini agapanthus, soft yellow marigolds, paper white jonquils, pivot berry and dusty miller foliage. Beautiful Freshly Picked Table Flowers

This week I was very lucky to be involved in two wonderful events in Brisbane, Australia. The first being the ‘Wedding Workshop’ held by ‘Style Weddings and Events’, at the beautiful wedding venue Hill Stone at St Lucia.

The Wedding Planning Workshop was created to point DIY Wedding Planning brides in the right direction and provide you with the insider tips and expertise to plan a stress-free wedding. Brides are encouraged to bring along your ‘wedding helpers’ such as mums, bridesmaids or best friends, so they can be your second pair of ears and make sure you don’t miss any important tips. The wedding planning workshop provides a relaxing and interactive environment where you will learn the secrets to planning a sensational wedding, have the opportunity to get to now other brides, and ask questions of industry professionals.

Green and Bloom Flowers was delighted to attend the event, and talked to the brides about important issues and factors to ask their florist when making contact for wedding flower quotes. We also created a beautiful mixed table arrangement in warmer tones as a giveaway to a lucky bride. An image of this beautiful wedding flower table arrangement is provided below. Zoe was the lucky winner and we were so happy our creation went to such a lovely friendly lady.

Later in the week I was fortunate to be the florist to makeover a beautiful gracious Queenslander in Norman Park for its house sale photos. Given the gracious and traditional styling and architecture of the house, we used the clients crystal vases and filled them with a mixture of native and spring style flowers to create garden like arrangements for most of the rooms within the house. We will share the professional photos once we get them and know ‘Irish Steve’ will have done an amazing job. What a fun week for textured interesting table arrangements!!

UP Disney Inspired Engagement Shoot - Wedding Chicks Repost.

What a fun engagement shoot I stumbled upon this week on Wedding Chicks. The amazing photography is by Wildflowers Photography, and was inspired by the Disney Pixars movie 'UP', with colourful balloon shots, soda pops, colourful bunches of ranunculas. The idea of this photo shoot came from Lynnette and James. Their favorite movie is UP so they wanted an engagement shoot based around the movie. Vintage Flowers for Weddings Weekly Launch Shoot

We were very excited to be asked to create some bouquets for the 'Weddings Weekly' launch photoshoot, taken on a private property in Brookfield, Brisbane. The photo shoot was a collaboration of high quality wedding suppliers and providers including, wedding dresses from Juli Grbac and Wendy Makin, Photography by Red Eclipse Photography, Styling by Rebecca Halse, and of course two very beautiful models Kamran and Caroline. The styling had a distinct elegant vintage chic theme, and included a frolic in the stream, picnic in a paddock of grass with cupcakes, and phone booth and classic car shots.

We designed two bouquets, one being a tightly clustered long stem bouquet of whites and greens made from carnations, chrissies, and lisianthus, and the second an unstructured bouquet of natives proteias, tube roses, berries, ivy, hanging ameralis and lisianthus.

Engagement Shoot with Karen Buckle Photography

As my first ever blog listing I thought it would be suiting to show our vintage chic photo shoot recently taken with the very talented Karen Buckle from ‘Karen Buckle Photography’ a Brisbane/Sunshine Coast wedding photographer.

Given my love for flowers I couldn’t hold back from creating a relaxed vintage style bouquet for the shoot, and chose a selection of; calla lilies, alstroemeria, daisies, rats tails, berries, magnolia leaf foliage, in deep purple, burnt orange, white and soft purple.

As soon as I saw Karen's style of photography I fell in love with her casual, relaxed but very modern photography style. I cannot express how much we LOVE these images. Karen did a fantastic job, and we can’t wait to see our wedding photos.
